Short Bio

I was born in 1980 in Bu-Ali hospital in Hamedan to parents who both were from a smaller city in Hamedan province, called Malayer. My birth certificate, however, is from Sanandaj, Kordestan province, where my parents were both working at the time. So, I proudly connect myself to two large tribes in Iran, Lor & Kord! though from being a Kord I probably can only do the dancing right, and from being a Lor I probably can only brag about being simple-hearted!

I grew up and studied in Tehran, and later being inspired by my father and my uncle who both were Aryamehr graduates, chose Sharif for my undergrad studies.

Being fed up with the "publish or perish" culture in the academia, I changed gear to industry and joined a consulting & IT firm in Sweden (Navetti) in 2015. There I moved up the ladder quite fast till the vice presidency of the company. After a while and working as an employee in different companies, I've detached myself from the employment world and have established my own companies with my partner, and currently "enjoying" the entrepreneurial life! ;)

I'm married to a fantastic ironwoman, Paria, from Lorestan province. So I'm a husband, a brother, and a son and try to do all these responsibilities at my best. For now I'm living a less challenging life with no kids in Stockholm of Sweden, focusing on my personal and business lives. When I'm not working, I enjoy my time with doing lots of stuff like side-mount scuba diving, playing chess online, and watching movies! I love animations and cartoons :D

Statement of Purpose to Join SUTA

SUTA has been established 20 years ago with a clear purpose: reconnecting Sharif/Aryamehr family outside of Iran and provide a canvas for them to share their stories and experiences. The organization has traveled a long path so far with success; but the world is changing and together with that the generations are also changing.

The recent Sharif graduates are seeking something totally different than what their fellow alumni and alumnae were looking for 20 years ago. The discussion that I had with my former classmates from Sharif, indicates that the younger generations are less and less likely to join SUTA as they don't see any benefit in that. Simply being a platform for networking is not tempting at all. Nowadays with FB, Instagram, Telegram, ... no one needs anymore to be a member of an organization and pay the membership fee to network. With TED, YouTube, LinkedIn, ... no one needs anymore to be a member of an organization to attend lectures and seminars/webinars.

We need to redefine the value offering of SUTA. We need to understand what the younger generation of the Sharif graduates are looking for, and offer those to them. Things like mentorship and career advice, guidance & support for immigrations, guidance & support for job hunting, guidance & support for business development, business establishment, investment opportunities, ...

Of course, I cannot and for sure, will not claim that I know all the needs and desires of all the generations of Sharif graduates, but I claim that I have the ears to listen and eyes to look for differences, and of course, the openness to accept such differences and thus work to accommodate such differences under one united SUTA.

Additionally, the recent infamous incident at the SUTA Board is not something that anyone has missed. By taking the power from the central BOD and give it to the BOD of branches and also every individual member, we can avoid such incidents in the future as much as possible. The SUTA BOD should be a place that the representatives from the BODs of all SUTA branches meet and sit. The actions are on SUTA branches, and thus it is there where the power and responsibilities should reside.

Besides, every single member of SUTA should be able to question, and if necessary, impeach the BOD in total or single members of it, and hold them responsible for their actions and decisions. We can make that change by preparing the procedure for a liquid democracy form on SUTA and present it to the members in an annual general meeting for approval.
