    This topic is created for members to post their questions to the candidates of the elections (and for the candidates to reply)!

    Dear Dr. Zahir,

    Since you are already in the board, I think you are the best person to answer my question.
    I assume since there are seven members in the board, each member can vote seven times.
    Can we give all our seven votes to just one person ( vote 7 times for a candidate)? or any other combination such as 3 votes to one candidate and 4 votes to another one?

    Dear Dr. Zahir,

    I have one more question;
    Where in the website, can I find bios, pictures, and positions (in the SUTA board) for the current board members of SUTA?

    You can find their pictures and emails here. Their resumes are not posted (maybe they should have been posted: good suggestion to the next BoD).

    And to answer your previous question (sorry I missed it last time), the answer is that each voter can vote to any number of 0 to 7 candidates, but maximum only once to each person.

    Some candidates (and potential candidates) were concerned about the role of the Board members. I thought maybe it would be beneficial to explain a few things from my perspective here:

    1) The BoD members are supposed to attend a monthly online meeting, which is usually limited to 2 hours.

    2) The tasks are divided between the president, VP, treasurer and secretary, as well as the chairpersons of several committees (including Membership, communications, chapters, awards, fundraising, reunion). Each person may get in charge of a project or a committee and has to report to the board meetings.

    The president usually takes care of the external relations, and supervision of the communications, and the coordination among all Board members; He also chairs the meetings. The president represents the association to the outside world.

    The VP helps the president in his/her role; every now and then the president may delegate some of the tasks to the VP.

    The secretary prepares the agenda for the meetings; sends calls for meetings; and takes notes and makes minutes of the meetings. Also the role of making sure that bylaws are always respected is on secretary's shoulder.

    The treasurer takes care of the finances of the association, tax filing, balances, etc.
